HEAD FOOTBALL COACH 


Pace Academy is an independent college preparatory school in Atlanta, Ga., with an enrollment of 1,150 students in Pre-First through 12th grade. Recognized as one of the top academic schools in the nation, Pace is dedicated to developing the whole child through a balanced focus on academics, athletics, arts, service to the community and global leadership. SUMMARY


Pace Academy seeks a dynamic and visionary Head Football Coach to lead and elevate its football program at all levels. The ideal candidate will combine a deep knowledge of football strategy and player development with a passion for mentoring student-athletes. This coach will cultivate a culture of excellence, sportsmanship and teamwork while advancing Pace’s values of character, service and global engagement. The head coach will also play an active role in campus life, building strong relationships with students and faculty. They will engage with students to foster enthusiasm for the football program, encouraging participation and involvement across the school community. 


Pace student-athletes embody excellence both on and off the field, earning prestigious accolades like Gatorade All-American honors, competing at collegiate and professional levels, and achieving success in every facet of their lives. The head football coach will commit to the same standard of excellence and lead by example. This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt position that reports to the Director of Athletics. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement a strategic plan for the entire football program (varsity, junior varsity and Middle School), including short- and long-term goals for success on and off the field.

  • Build and sustain a competitive varsity team that reflects the school’s tradition of excellence and contributes to its legacy of producing well-rounded student-athletes.

  • Recruit, mentor and retain a skilled coaching staff dedicated to advancing the goals of the program and the school.

  • Foster the academic, athletic and personal growth of student-athletes, ensuring that they embody the qualities of leadership, discipline and integrity while instilling a love for the game. 

  • Oversee all facets of day-to-day and gameday management, including scheduling, filming, sideline technology, statistics, equipment issue, inventory and ordering.

  • Work in partnership with the school’s admission professionals.

  • Serve as an ambassador for the football program, cultivating relationships within the Pace Academy student body and parent community, as well as with alumni and supporters; promote the achievements of the team and individual student-athletes to enhance the visibility and reputation of the program.

  • Coordinate summer football camp/clinic selections with families of players wishing to be more competitive; work closely with the Office of College Counseling in the recruitment/placement of players in NCAA/NAIA football programs.

  • Other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Proven success as a head coach or assistant coach at the high school, collegiate or professional level.

  • Strong leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • A demonstrated commitment to fostering character development and academic achievement in student-athletes, and a coaching philosophy that embraces and embodies the mission and core values of Pace Academy.

  • A track record of excellence while prioritizing sportsmanship and personal growth.

  • A passion for mentoring student-athletes and preparing them for success beyond the game.

  • An earnest, active and ongoing commitment to increasing cultural competency and to valuing and respecting the cultural differences among members of the Pace community and beyond.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Standing and walking for extended periods of time during practices and games.

  • Able to squat, stoop, kneel, reach above the head, reach forward and repeat the same hand motion often.

  • Coaching in all weather extremes, including heat, cold, rain and/or snow.

  • Long hours during the competitive season, including evenings and weekends.

  • Regular office tasks and duties.
