Position Overview: 

The ideal candidate will have a deep passion and knowledge of the sport, as well as a commitment to hands-on, student-centered coaching practices, with the ability to demonstrate proper technique.

Position Summary:

The Lacrosse season starts February 3, 2025 and runs through approximately April 25, 2025. Teams practice every weekday from 3:30pm to 5:30pm on non-game days.  The Varsity Assistant Girls Lacrosse Coach will work closely with the Varsity Head Coach to support the development and success of the girls lacrosse program. The assistant coach will be responsible for helping to plan and execute practices, instruct players in technical skills, and provide support on game days. The goal is to foster a positive and competitive environment that promotes teamwork, sportsmanship, and player growth.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Practice Support: Assist in organizing and running daily practices, focusing on individual and team skill development, conditioning, and game strategy.
  • Game Day Preparation: Help with pre-game warm-ups, manage substitutions, and assist in implementing game strategies during competitions.
  • Player Development: Work closely with individual athletes to improve their lacrosse skills, including stick handling, shooting, and positioning.
  • Team Leadership: Support the head coach in fostering a positive, inclusive team culture, emphasizing respect, hard work, and sportsmanship.
  • Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with athletes, parents, and coaching staff regarding team expectations, schedules, and updates.
  • Player Evaluation: Help assess and monitor player performance during practices and games, providing constructive feedback for development.
  • Game Strategy: Assist in analyzing opponents and developing game strategies in coordination with the head coach.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all practices and games are conducted in accordance with school policies, league rules, and safety protocols.
  • Equipment and Setup: Help manage equipment and ensure the proper setup and breakdown of practice and game fields.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Previous coaching experience in lacrosse is preferred. Playing experience at the high school or collegiate level is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Lacrosse: Strong understanding of the rules, strategies, and techniques of girls lacrosse.
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to motivate and mentor young athletes in both individual and team settings.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification: Must have or be willing to obtain CPR and First Aid certification prior to the start of the season.
  • CIF Coaching Requirements: Must hold current CIF/NFHS certifications or be willing to obtain them before the season starts.
  • Background Check: Must pass a background check according to school district requirements.
