Viewpoint School is currently seeking a Cheer Assistant Coach. Our part-time seasonal Cheerleading Assistant Coach is responsible for assisting with the coaching and administrative duties of the cheerleading program for Viewpoint’s Middle and Upper School Cheerleading Team.

Job Description: 

The candidate will assist the head coach with scheduling, organizing, and conducting cheer practices. They will help coordinate the cheer on game days. The focus of the assistant coach is to help increase skill levels for game day and pep rally performances, assist with recruitment, and help build school spirit. Hours each week will vary from 10-15 hours a week, a schedule will be created with the Head Coach based on the support needed.  

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist the head coach with scheduling, organizing, and conducting cheer practices and with skills progression. 
  • Recruiting: coordinate recruiting activities including emails, bulletins, maintain and help manage social media 
  • Academics: monitor academic progress of players and help with season grades and comments. 
  • Game Day Management: responsibilities as assigned by the Head Coach. 
  • Valid driver’s license required. 
  • Work schedule may include early mornings, evenings, and weekends. 
  • Attending all home games: Football, Men’s, and Women’s basketball games, and select special Sporting and Promotional events, unless prior arrangements have been made with the head coach. 
  • Experience with teaching at least level 2 tumbling and stunting skills. 

Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required: 

  • At least 2 years of experience as a Sideline cheerleader or Competitive Cheerleader. Student-athlete experience, at the collegiate level, is preferred 
  • Creativity in dances and themes  
  • Knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques of coaching. 
  • Effective communicator in both written and oral communication. 
  • Ability to deliver their knowledge to and instruct student-athletes in an effective manner. 
  • Knowledge of safety and first aid techniques. Valid CPR/First Aid/AED certification and/or willingness to obtain. Will also need to submit to required state and federal background check and CIF-required coaching certifications.  
  • Skill in identifying problems, evaluating alternatives and implementing effective solutions. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with a diverse population. 
  • Knowledge of basic computer applications and electronic mail. 
  • Ability to instruct in those applicable areas of certification. 

Compensation: $27 per hour.
