Job Description
To help direct the track program in role of Associate Head Coach, Track & Field and Cross Country. ADMINISTRATION -Assist Director of Track & Field Programs in the overall management of six Division I sports; Men and Women’s Cross Country, Men and Women’s Indoor Track & Field, and Men and Women’s Outdoor Track & Field. Complete all travel documentation (travel list, itineraries, credit card usage, etc.) Update and coordinate actual expenses with the Director to comply with team budgets. Create seasonal calendars and communicate with staff and team members (practice scheduling, meet schedules, required paperwork etc.) Write weekly schedules for players when in season (information regarding training, competition and travel) Communicate regularly with department staff (Compliance, Sports Information, Business & Finance, Travel Coordinator, Academic Advisor and Athletic Trainer) on specific items related to their job and our programs. Coordinate and conduct fundraising efforts for program and community involvement projects. Attend staff meetings and training as directed. COACHING -Organize and create workouts (daily, weekly, seasonal, conditioning phase and spring season) based on the master plan for the program and for the specific event areas coached. Conduct practice sessions (in whole or in component parts) to follow master plan. Evaluate players periodically and cumulatively. Maintain regular correspondence with prospective student athletes. Create long-term player development plans: technical, tactical and physical development of individual players over time. MANAGEMENT -Assist the Director of Track & Field Programs in the overall management and operations of the Track & Field Programs office. Maintain a professional work environment in the Track & Field Programs office. Assist in the supervision of Assistant Coaches. Assist with organization and administration of home track and field competitions. RECRUITMENT -Maintain contact with key track and field coaches in the community and have productive relations with a variety of coaching organizations in an effort to recruit prospective student athletes. Coordinate official and unofficial visits of prospective student-athletes. Meet with prospective student-athletes on campus (discuss academic expectations, student academic goals, NCAA compliance, etc.) Communicate regularly with compliance on status of prospective student athletes. Position has done: Coaching Horizontal and Vertical Jumps Recruiting for Horizontal and Vertical Jumps Light paperwork as needed Position now doing: Supervisory responsibilities over (3) three assistant coaches Operations Coordinator: Complete Travel coordination and authorizations, budget reconciliations, equipment inventory, and Purchasing for six sports Assistant Meet Director: Assist the Director in the planning and management of multiple competitions Supervisory responsibility over meet staff; officials, timers, etc. Assist in the recruitment of prospective student-athletes in all event areas Directly oversee the academic and athletic progress of (3) three women’s sports: Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track Assist in the creation and implementation of practice schedules and competition schedules *Other duties as assigned by the Director of Track & Field Programs

Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.

Required Qualifications
The following skill sets will be required: -Ability to multi-task within job setting -Recruitment of quality student-athletes -Ability to coordinate travel for multiple teams -Excellent computer application skills -Excellent leadership abilities -Excellent communication skills -Excellent management skills -Excellent time management skills Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of four (4) years experience coaching in a collegiate track and field program. Rules compliance is an important responsibility of this position. Employee shall support and comply with all applicable rules and regulations of the NCAA , the MEAC and other established bodies that govern intercollegiate athletics and the University. In the event the employee becomes aware, or has reasonable cause to believe that violations of rules compliance may have taken place, Employee shall report same promptly to the Athletics Director, Athletic Compliance Administrator or his/her designee. Must be able to obtain First/Aid/ CPR / AED certification within the first 60 days of employment. Must be able to pass the NCAA Coaches Certification Test for off-campus recruiting within 30 days of employment and annually thereafter. Must be able to pass the USATF Level 1 certification or USTFCCCA specialist certification.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in areas of corporate america such as recruitment and selection, college relations, human resources, or training and development is preferred.
