POSITION OVERVIEW

The Junior Varsity (JV) Head Baseball Coach is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the program, including recruiting within the school, oversight and management of the staff, and development of individual team members. The JV Head Baseball Coach is required to abide by rules and regulations of; the NFHS, the MSHSL, and Breck School.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions, to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.

  • Use a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student athletes in Baseball.

  • Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate student� athletic abilities initially and on an ongoing basis.

  • Develop a regular practice schedule and organize practice time to provide both individual and team development.

  • Encourage sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation at all times.

  • Use the allotted days by the MSHSL in June and July to provide athletes the opportunity to do Baseball specific training.

  • Encourage and support multisport athletes within Breck School.

  • Participate in special activities to include parent meetings, senior night, banquets, etc.

  • Attend staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.

  • Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Director of Athletic or other appropriate administrator.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • One year of experience coaching Baseball at the high school level

  • Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills.

  • Must possess knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport.

  • Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, governing organizations (MSHSL, etc.), opponents, staff, parents, and athletes.
