Duties & Responsibilities

VCU Athletics is seeking a professional, positive, and results-driven Head Women's Soccer Coach to lead the program to success and excellence.

Summary:

The Head Women's Soccer Coach oversees the coaching and training of student-athletes at the NCAA Division l level in the sport of Women's Soccer to prepare them for competition in local, regional, and national arenas.

Typical Duties

  • Coaching and training of student-athletes at the Division l level to prepare them  for competition in local, regional, and national arenas;
  • Successful recruitment of academically qualified and athletically talented student-athletes;
  • Evaluation of prospective student-athletes;
  • Maintenance of accurate files of current and prospective student-athletes. Maintenance of required NCAA, A-10, State, and University paperwork;
  • Scheduling all games for the Women's Soccer Team;
  • Securing travel arrangements involved with recruitment, games, and tournaments;
  • Monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes.
  • Responsible for supervision of assistant coaches, including performance management in Talent@VCU.
Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous head coaching experience in the sport of Women's Soccer at the NCAA Division l level; and
  • An advanced degree or training and work experience at a level that equates to an advanced degree.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree;
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU:
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of coaching experience; and
  • Knowledge and experience with NCAA Division l rules and regulations.

Required Licenses/Certifications

  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications;
  • In accordance with the university's "Vehicle Accident Prevention and Safety" policy and since a condition of employment is to drive University vehicles in order to transport student-athletes, the following is required:
  • 1. Valid driver's license
  • 2. Annual review of driving record
  • 3. Successful completion of the National Safety Council online defensive driving course
  • 4. Successful completion of the "Behind the Wheel" training administered by VCU Police
  • 5. Successful completion of the department's online "Van Driving Safety" course
