East Stroudsburg University is hiring an Assistant Women's Soccer Coach! Located in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, ESU’s proximity to New York City and Philadelphia provides convenient access to internships, careers and social activities. Just minutes from campus are the country’s largest water parks, scenic Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area, Appalachian Trail, and other opportunities for recreational fun.

As the Assistant Coach for the Women's Soccer program, you will need to think creatively and be comfortable participating in the planning and execution of the program's implementation. You will be an active member of the Athletics team and will work closely with the Director to utilize evidence-based techniques to maximize recruitment. You will thrive in this role if you like combining your High school, Club, NCAA, or PSAC soccer coaching experience with your outstanding interpersonal skills all while applying your comprehensive knowledge of the modern sport recruiting life cycle. To be successful in this role, you must be an excellent communicator, have experience in intercollegiate sports, and have in-depth working knowledge of the NCAA and PSAC programs. 
 
Your hours will vary based on the sports schedule. This position is a part time 0.4 FTE role and will include up to 50% travel to away games. When our team shows up for work, they are energized and motivated to succeed - all while being the most crucial piece to keeping the ESU operations humming.

What Will I Do At ESU? (AKA Essential Duties)

  • Assists the Head Coach with all aspects of the soccer program, including recruitment, execution of the program, player direction and support, and any other duties. 
  • Must complete NCAA DII education modules prior to August 1 of each year.
  • Research and obtain knowledge on all policies and procedures involving the ESU soccer program, including but not limited to PSAC, NCAA, compliance regulations, ESU Athletics, etc.
  • Assists the Head Coach in all administrative aspects of the soccer program, such as use of the ARMS program, recruitment travel documents, purchasing tasks, etc.
  • Participate with department fundraising, clinics, camps, and other events
  • Support the Head Coach with practice planning, game preparation, and in-game coaching. Also, assisting the Head Coach with team supervision, including when traveling, and for pre-season activities
  • Continually seek self-improvement on the soccer program through attending clinics, workshops, seminars, and other related professional development programs.
  • Adhere to all rules, guidelines, dress codes, behavioral/integrity standards while representing ESU’s soccer program

What We're Looking For (AKA Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
  • Ability to manage collegiate athletes by being a role model in all aspects of timeliness, integrity, dignity, and respect
  • At least 1 year of previous work experience coaching soccer athletes is required, preferably at the collegiate level, however 2+ years of experience coaching at a high school or club coaching level is acceptable 
  • Previous knowledge and work experience with compliance to athletics rules and regulations, such as NCAA or PSAC is required
  • Highly skilled in Men’s soccer skills and techniques, with the ability and patience to teach skills to others
  • Ability to attend all practices, games, clinics, etc., including travel.  This includes the ability to work outdoors and in elements for extended periods of time.
  • Able to read, write, and comprehend English; able to follow verbal instructions.
  • Experience with Word, Excel, Teams required.
